Global Theological Institute - 3rd Graduation Ceremony

This past week we had the privilege of participating in the 3rd graduation ceremony of Global Theological Institute, which is a ministry of the Thailand Methodist Mission led by Drs. Tanapong and Muanreedee.  17 students graduated with B.Min and M.Min degrees.  Now a total of 76 graduates from the Global Theological Institute, serving all across Thailand.

The graduates bow as everyone lifts them up with prayers of blessing.

Global Theological Institute Class of 2017

Three of this year's graduates are Pioneer Pastors, having planted the first church ever in counties in Thailand that have never had a Christian church before.

Global Theological Institute graduates Pastor Arpan and Pastor Weelahwan pioneered the Blessings of God Church in Chachoengsao province.  Pastor Arpan received her M.Min degree and Pastor Weelahwan earned her B.Min. degree.  Blessings of God Church is the only Christian church in Samet Tai, a rural county with a population of over 5,000 people.

A Building is Needed for Fire of Glory Church

Pastors Sherri and Somsri baptize a new Christian

Hello Brothers and Sisters, we need your help on a large project that is deeply needed.  We need churches, Sunday School classes, UMW and UMM groups, and individuals to give generously towards the Building Fund this Christmas.

We are asking every church and every church group to take up a special offering for the Building Fund this Christmas and for every family to remember us too.   We know that now is the time that churches are deciding on their budgets and also doing their Christmas planning, so we appreciate your help in getting the word out at your church.

Here is what is needed: A church building for Fire of Glory Church, which is led by Pastor Somsri and her daughter, Pastor Warin.  Right now, Fire of Glory Church meets in a small building that is Pastor Somsri’s house.  Every Sunday, the place is overflowing with worshippers, and there is no room for growth.  This has been a problem for a long time.

Pastor Somsri and the church members have been sacrificing deeply to save money for land and a church building.  Pastor Somsri does not receive any salary from Fire of Glory Church so that funds from the Sunday offerings can be saved up for a building.  Pastor Somsri serves as the Mentoring Pastor for the Pioneer Pastor Program, but she does not keep any of the salary we send to her each month.  Instead she donates ALL of her salary to the church’s building fund.  All the while her family sacrifices financially for the church, they also take in orphans and teens who have been abandoned into their home.  Pastor Somsri and her family are truly remarkable people who inspire us.

Model of Fire of Glory Church Building

Over the past two years, they have saved up enough for a down payment on land, but they are unable to save enough money fast enough to do this on their own.  At the rate they are able to save money, it will be over 25 years before they can afford to build.  And this church is very fruitful, with many new Christians.  And Pastors Somsri and Warin are effective at discipling these new Christians to become strong in Christ too.

So we need to raise $150,000 for the church building for Fire of Glory Church.  This is enough money to buy the land and construct a simple 2 story building.   If you would like to give to this, please designate your gift for the BUILDING FUND.
